The Landlord Responds...
Dear Mr. Axtmann: I'm a homeowner who lives in the area of 58 Derry, a property I've been informed you own, and am writing on behalf of several residents who have become increasingly concerned about the aberrant, possibly criminal behaviour of one or more of your tenants. As a responsible landlord, I'm sure you can understand why those of us with young children would object to loud screaming matches in the street, reports of criminal behaviour involving drugs and bike thefts and a rash of recent car and other break-ins in this area that have been traced back by numerous people to the tenants on your property. We've lived here 10 years, and until a year ago, never had an issue with any of your renters, all of whom respected the neighbourhood and made an effort to fit in. The current situation, however, is unsustainable, unacceptable and frightening to small children and I hope you will take action to set things right (ie..eviction, not renewing lease, etc). You should know that residents in this area are planning a meeting involving police and city counsellors to devise an action plan to deal with this situation. best, Joel
7:36amRobert Axtmann accepted your request.10:25am
I understand your concern. I am aware of several of your concerns and am doing doing everything on my power to deal with them. Due to the neigbourr good you live in i am having a difficult time believing all your accusations. If their are break ins and thefts those are issues to be dealt with by the police not a resident. I will always cooperate with the police. In case you weren't aware there is a drug problem in guelph as indicated by the needles and syringes found around the city but especially in the downtown area. I would suggest you contact the police as opposed too me when you have an issue. I will do everything within the law to corect the problem but that is as much as I can do. I have other tenants within the building and have only received three complaints which I have dealt with. I will be contacting guelph police to follow up on all the complaints which you and others have filed to see if any are actionable

Serious Incident At 58 Derry St Apartment A
5am this morning a car (dark grey 2-door Infinity) was heard squealing it 's tires and racing around Derry St. (See Video Below). This vehicle driver and passenger went to 58 Derry St at 5am and there was some type of incident at this location.
From 5am until 5:20am two males arrive 58 Derry St apartment A and are seen entering and leaving the apartment.
From 5:20am until 8:20am the door to the apartment left wide open.
Police (2 cruisers) arrive at 8:20am and enter inside the apartment. One Police Officer has an automatic weapon with him. I've never seen Guelph Police respond to this address with an automatic weapon in display and on their person.
At 8:30am one male that does not live there leaves the apartment on his own.
Police leave at 8:40am
About 9:30am Police return to 58 Derry St and speak with tenant outside on the street. It appears he was attacked/robbed by his friend and the tenant is asking police to arrest the guy.
The irony...
Edited-Wanted to be clear that Police had the automatic weapon and not anyone at the property. What this likely means is that the response was serious enough that Police needed to have this type of weapon at the ready.

She's gone!
It appears as though the female tenant of Apartment A has indeed left the apartment for an indefinite amount of time. Her bags were packed and she was picked up this morning.
According to Police recently, she was going away for a 3 month rehab stint.
It will be calmer for a while now around the neighborhood but it will remain to be seen if the situation in our area gets better or worse.

Police at Apartment A Yet Again
Sunday November 5th 10pm
They were at it again with the screaming and yelling and smashing things. Police showed up and spoke with the tenants of Apartment A and promptly left. Police said that she informed them that she is going away to rehab for 3 months. This will stop the domestic situations for a while but in past when she leaves, he ramps up his bike chop shop in the apartment and his friends constantly bring in the stolen bikes and break them down for parts.
The apartment door has been off its hinges for a few days now. Police said that it is because this apartment was broken into yet again.
Police will not give them a ticket for noise or do much as I was told that they have no money to pay for the ticket and simply won't pay it. They have no vehicle so their licence being suspended would do nothing. They said "It isn't worth our time but just keep calling us."
